MMG is supporting Lao employees to achieve their career goals through training and development.
On 26 August 2015, 15 trade trainees graduated from Savannakhet Technical and Vocational School (STVS). These graduates are the third group to complete the trade traineeship program since it was established in 2010. The new graduates are now equipped with trade skills in automotive, mechanical, and electrical disciplines which will be useful for the rest of their lives.
This is a significant achievement for LXML’s Maintenance Department, contributing to sustainable human resources development for the next generation in Vilabouly.
Cooperation between LXML and STVS in building technical capability in Savannakhet dates back to 2000 when the Sepon mine sought to improve local technical capacity. LXML’s support has since provided opportunities for over 100 trainees in various technical and administrative disciplines.
The training program includes support for Vilabouly High School; intermediate vocational training in electrical, automotive, and fabrication disciplines; pre-employment technical training courses including on business management and administration, and formal on-the-job training in welding, automotive, mechanical and electrical trade disciplines through RMIT University in Australia.
In addition, LXML has donated almost US$100,000 in welding equipment, tools, and other training resources to the Savannakhet Technical and Vocational School.
