Fatality at Sepon mine

MMG Limited (MMG) regrets to announce that Mr Daola Phoumixay, a UXO (unexploded ordinance) clearance worker at LXML Sepon in the Lao PDR, passed away yesterday evening in Savannakhet hospital, following injuries suffered earlier in the day.

Mr Phoumixay was fatally injured by a falling tree while conducting vegetation clearance work near the Western Tailings Storage Facility at Sepon.

“Our deepest sympathy goes out to his family, relatives and friends at this difficult time”, said Andrew Michelmore, Chief Executive Officer. ”This is a very sad day for MMG.”

MMG will provide support to Mr Phoumixay’s family and has provided counselling support to staff at the mine.
