Minerals and Metals Group Lane Xang Minerals Limited Sepon Operations, known as MMG LXML Sepon, was pleased to announce its support for the 25th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) with a donation of USD$50,000.
The funds will be used to help the Lao Swimming Association attend the sporting event which will take place in Vientiane, capital of the Lao PDR, from 9th to 18th of December 2009.
A ceremony to commemorate MMG’s support was held at the Fund Night for the 25th SEA Games at Lao ITEC in which MMG LXML Sepon Director, Mr Saman Aneka handed over the donation to H. E. Somsavat Lengsavad, Deputy Prime Minister, Standing Government and Chairman of the Executive Organising Committee of the 25th SEA Games.
“MMG LXML is pleased to offer its support to the Southeast Asian Games,” said Mr Aneka.
“In hosting the games Vientiane has a unique opportunity to showcase the city, and Lao PDR, to the rest of Southeast Asia and the world. We will be watching closely to see if Laos can achieve its target of 25 gold medals.”
The SEA Games is a biennial, sporting event symbolising unity and friendship of the current member countries of ASEAN. 11 countries from Southeast Asia will compete under the regulation of the Southeast Asian Games Federation with supervision by the International Olympic Committee and the Olympic Council of Asia.
The 25th SEA Games will be the first time that Lao PDR has hosted the games The nine-day games will be competed under the theme of “Generosity, Amity, Healthy Lifestyle”.
