MMG LXML Sepon (LXML) donated 10 million Kip, an additional 4 million Kip in essential medical supplies, and motorcycle helmets to Vientiane Rescue in Vientiane on 10 April 2015.
“At MMG, we think safety first, and everyone is responsible for preventing accidents. We care about our safety and the safety of our families and community,” said Suresh Vadnagra, General Manager, MMG LXML Sepon.
Vientiane Rescue operates a volunteer service assisting accident victims in Vientiane. The number of accidents increases every year through the ‘seven days of danger’ during Pi Mai (Lao New Year) celebrations.
Almost 300 people died and thousands more were injured in traffic accidents in the Lao PDR in the first three months of 2015. Factors include drink driving, speeding, and not wearing motorcycle helmets.
LXML supports Lao Red Cross, Vientiane Rescue, Savannakhet Hospital, and regularly conducts traffic safety awareness programs in schools and with community leaders in Vilabouly District near the Sepon mine in Savannakhet Province.
