Fatality in Peru

  • Media Enquiries

It is with great sadness that we report the tragic death on Thursday 21 July, Peru time, of Felipe Leon Chavez, a driver who was employed through our logistics contractor Transaltisa.

Mr Chavez died following a road incident which occurred near the town of Antuyo in the province of Cotabambas, when the vehicle he was driving left the road.

Chief Executive Officer Andrew Michelmore extended condolences on behalf of the Company.

“We extend our profound sympathies to Mr Chavez’s family and friends during this difficult time.”

“We place safety at the centre of everything we do and we believe nothing is so important that it cannot be done safely,” he said.

MMG is working with Transaltisa to provide support for his family.

Counselling and other support services will also be provided to the driver’s colleagues at the operation.
