MMG Lane Xang Minerals Limited extends support to Savannakhet Rescue

MMG Lane Xang Mineral Limited (MMG LXML Sepon) donated additional emergency rescue tools valued 51,200,000 kip to the Victim Assistance Foundation of Savannakhet Province (Savannakhet Rescue).

At Savannakhet Cabinet Office, Mr Saman Aneka, Managing Director and Manager Stakeholder Relations, MMG LXML Sepon handed emergency rescue tools to Lt. Col Maniphet Bouphalasy, President of Victim Foundation of Savannakhet Province, witnessed by Mr Khamphoon Touphaitoun, Vice Governor of Savannakhet Province.

The emergency rescue tools included high pressure pumps and hydraulic hoses, cutter, spreader, ram, and chocks and blocks set to assist vehicle extrication of crash victims including rescue of victims from small spaces. Six set of personal protected equipment including, hard hats, safety glasses, reflective vests, leather gloves, and steel cap boots was also provided to the foundation.

“I’m very pleased with this humanitarian assistance” said Mr Saman Aneka, Managing Director and Manager Stakeholder Relations, MMG LXML Sepon. “These emergency rescue tools are very important to help save lives of motorists trapped in their crashed vehicles”.

In November 2017, MMG LXML Sepon supported emergency rescue equipment worth 23,450,000 kip to the foundation including, a stretcher for emergency treatment, spinal board, oxygen tank, medical bag, portable suction pump, and 30 motorcycle helmets.

“At MMG, safety is one of our core values. By working together with Savannakhet authorities and rescue team to promote road traffic awareness, we could save many lives” added Mr Saman.

Road traffic accident is one of the largest causes of deaths in the Lao PDR. Statistics in 2017 recorded 5,868 road accidents with 9,640 injuries and 1,053 fatalities. Savannakhet province ranked third following Vientiane Capital and Champasak with 662 accident, 114 fatalities and 949 injuries.
