MMG CEO visits Dugald River

MMG’s Chief Executive Officer Andrew Michelmore met with members of the Cloncurry community this week as part of a visit to the proposed Dugald River mine.

Mr Michelmore was joined by MMG Chief Operating Officer Marcelo Bastos and Dugald River Project Director Bob Edwards, as they discussed the progress of the project.

“I am pleased to have the opportunity to meet with key local stakeholders of the Dugald River project as we continue activities to advance the project,” said Mr Michelmore.

“Last month we received the final Environmental Authority from the Queensland Department of Environment and Heritage Protection (DEHP) setting out licence conditions for the proposed mining operation,” he said.

“We now continue to progress pre-commitment activities including engineering design and finalisation of agreements for gas, power generation, access and infrastructure.”

“Work on the two exploration declines is also on track and we expect to intersect the main part of the ore body in the fourth quarter 2012.”

Mr Michelmore said the visit gave him the opportunity to see the development activities on site, meet with members of the local workforce and local stakeholders.

“It’s very exciting to see the progress in person and I would like to thank our workforce for their dedication and commitment to the project,” said Mr Michelmore.

“I am also grateful to our local community members and stakeholders for their ongoing support and look forward to building upon these relationships as we continue to advance the project,” he said.
