MMG Limited (MMG) regrets to announce that a contracted security guard engaged by its Kinsevere mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has died following a snake bite.
The guard was bitten while on duty at the site on Saturday, 21 March 2015.
Despite receiving emergency treatment from site medical services and at private hospitals in Lubumbashi, the guard tragically passed away the next morning.
“The thoughts of all at MMG are with the guard’s family and friends,” said Mr Andrew Michelmore, Chief Executive Officer.
MMG is working with the guard’s employer regarding support for his family. Counselling and other support will also be provided to the guard’s colleagues at the operation.
