LXML donated an ambulance to Savannakhet Hospital in 2015. This additional equipment will enhance the hospital’s capacity to respond to emergencies, particularly road accident trauma.
LXML donated other equipment to Savannakhet Hospital in 2014 and 2015, including several incubators to support premature births, an ambulance, anesthesia apparatus, and compressed gas regulators.
“I am proud to support Savannakhet Hospital as this directly benefits women and children in our community. MMG is committed to safety and supporting the health of our employees and communities. Most employees from Sepon mine live in Savannakhet, and this support demonstrates our ongoing commitment to progress and development,” said Mr Saman Aneka, Director, MMG LXML Sepon.
In 2016 MMG LXML Sepon is extending its unique partnership with the Lao Ministry of Health, the Lao Women’s Union and UNICEF in the ‘1000 Day Project’ to support maternal and child nutrition in key provinces including Muang Vilabouly, Nong, Phine and Sepon Districts in Savannakhet Province where the mine is located.
LXML has provided extensive support to Vilabouly District Hospital including building a new ward, a water supply, and providing medical equipment.
LXML sponsors the annual Lao Pediatrics’ Conference through Health Frontiers in Vientiane, and has supported maternal and child health care projects in Vilabouly and the Lao PDR through the Lao Women’s Union and Burnett Institute since Sepon mine commenced operations in 2003.
