“I am very proud to support Savannakhet Hospital, as many of our employees and their families live in Savannakhet, our host province for Sepon mine. This demonstrates our ongoing commitment to safety, community development, health and education,” said Mr Saman Aneka, LXML Director. “LXML also recently donated an ambulance, a new hospital ward, water supply, latrines, motorcycles, and medical equipment to Vilabouly Hospital,” he added.
MMG has extended a unique partnership with the Lao Ministry of Health, Lao Women’s Union and UNICEF in the ‘1,000 Day Project’ to support maternal and child nutrition across the Southern provinces in Lao PDR. In Savannakhet province, the project supports maternal and child health outreach and nutrition programs in Vilabouly, Nong, Phine and Sepon Districts.
LXML sponsors the annual Lao Paediatrics’ Conference through Health Frontiers and has supported maternal and child health projects through the Lao Women’s Union and Burnett Institute, improving lives of women and children since Sepon mine commenced operations in 2003.
